Busson Foundation for exhibition at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, the curators use photography not only to illustrate historical events that took place in the 1950s, but also to show how works of photographic art shape our perception of history. The images, whether accurately or not, convey a romantic ideal (say, in 1950s Cuba or 1920s Soviet Russia) according to which violent revolution is a noble response to corrupt forms of government. The photos themselves can create heroes and inspire their followers.
