This volume is devoted to the rich holdings in photographic art of the State Literary Museum in Moscow. A chapter on the history of the collection and one dealing with the spread of Daguerre's invention and its heyday in Moscow precede the catalogue. Subjects of the images include those people from literary circles or related to writers such as Lermontov, Grigorovich, Turgenev, Tolstoy and Herzen.
