When he exhibited in Russia and then taught at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Moscow, where his new style had a strong and salutary impact. He spent about eight eight years in Russia before returning to Italy, but that short period leavened twentieth-century Russian sculpture and led in part to a boom of modernist sculptural works in the early Soviet period, especially in Moscow.
