Metalwork was used for jewelry and ornaments sewn into clothing, which had both a decorative and a talismanic purpose. The text combines articles by curators of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan on such subjects as the origin of the jeweler's craft among the Volga Bulgars, the coins of the Golden Horde, and the types of jewelry and techniques of metalwork of the Kazan Tatars.
