They have tapped such museums as the Suvorov Military Museum and the Historical Military Museum of Artillery, Engineering and Signal Corps in St. Petersburg and also drawn on private collections to publish visual documents of great variety such as drawings for the design of epaulettes, archival photographs of soldiers and officers, drawings and paintings on late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century wars.
