Bol'shoi petergofskii dvorets (The Peterhof Great Palace)

St. Petersburg: Petergof / Zolotoi Lev, n.d. Saddle-stitched. In the early years of the eighteenth century Peter the Great set aside territory on the Gulf of Finland for a palace near his new capital of St. Petersburg. By the middle of the 18th century it became a magnificent ensemble of parks, pavilions and a central palace designed by Rastrelli in the 1740s and replacing the first one built for Peter. This Peterhof Palace Museum publication gives a concise but substantive outline of the main interiors, indicating which architects designed them and which artists conceived and carried out the details such as parquet floors, silk wall coverings, and painted ceilings. 33 p., 25 cm, approx. 60 color illus., Rus.
