Museums

Bronze Horseman looks for publications of out-of-the-way collections, knowing how inaccessible such material usually is to researchers in the West. Regional museums, exceptional in Russia owing to its size and the Soviet policy of dispersing works to collections in provincial cities, house significant collections scattered over a vast geographical area, which few Western scholars ever visit. Catalogues of these collections provide access to unstudied works by major figures in Russian and world art (for example, Kazimir Malevich and Liubov Popova in The V. P. Sukachev Art Museum in Irkustsk) and by artists less well known but forming the context of Russian and European art history.
Bronze Horseman Books is constantly replenishing its list of well illustrated and researched books on Ancient, Islamic, Asian and Western European art from private and state collections across Russia.
