Emperor Paul's second son Konstatin had an unsteady character, abdicated the throne in favor of his younger brother Nikolai, and spent much his career as head of the army in Poland, then part of the Russian Empire. Drawings and paintings,works of decorative art, arms, and uniforms convey the milieu of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
