This gallery exhibition catalogue publishes works of painting and drawing from private collections by a major painter and graphic artist who began his career in late tsarist and early Soviet periods portraying in angular geometrized but figurative imagery Russian types. He was a prolific artist in emigration but owing to the vagaries of the diaspora many of his works are only now coming into view of art historians. His forceful portraits, moody scenes of dance and music, folk images, and erotic night life are in a style all his own.
