Dva veka russkoi litografii (Two Centuries of Russian Lithography)

St. Petersburg: Rus muz, 2007. sewn cl. This monograph studies works of lithography as independent creations not merely a medium for postcards, posters, or books. The catalogue looks at lithography workshops in Russia from the early nineteenth century to the experimental studios of the 1920s and 1930s. One creative center was LOSSKh (Leningradskoe otdelene soiuza sovetskikh khudozhnikov, Leningrad department of the Union of Soviet Artists), created in 1932. Artists of the avant-garde period—Natalia Goncharova, Vladimir Konashevich, Petr Miturich, used the technique for some of their best works. Also remarkable was the revival of lithography in the late Soviet period by such artists as Boris Ermolaev, Anatolii Kaplan, Mikhail Karasik, Vera Matiukh, and Anatolii Belkin. 160 pp., 9 x 12 ins., approx. 200 color and b/w illus., Rus.
