The works published in this catalogue of an exhibition at the Shchusev Museum of Russian Architecture were originally in churches around Russia, some of which have not survived. Especially informative are archival photographs of church interiors that show the works of sculpture in their original sites as part of an ensemble. Statues, relatively rare in Eastern Orthodox art, and ornamental carved royal doors and iconostases suggest the range of works.
