Kamenskii, the "poet-aviator," one of the leaders of the Russian futurist movement in literature and art, composed these satirical lines to dispel the clichés and conformity that he thought were rampant in the work of his fellow poets. Kamenskii's poem was written between 1919 and 1921, but remained unpublished.
