"Klinom krasnym be belykh" : geometricheskai a simvolika v iskusstve avangarda ("Smash the whites like a wedge"; geometical symbolism of the avant-garde art)

St. Petersburg: Evropeiskii univ, 2014. pb. Lisitskii's red wedge cracking into a white circle together with the pithy caption "Smash the Whites" would have been one of many propaganda posters of the period of the civil war (1919– 21) had not the work itself been a masterpiece of spare geometric expression. As such, the author of this monograph contends, it came to stand for the November 1917 revolution and the determination to wipe out the past and its adherents. Looking at many offshoots from the early twenties to the contemporary period, the author traces how prolific Lisitskii's work became. 163 p., 21 cm, approx. 120 color and b/w illus., Rus. with summary in ENGLISH.
