Semeinye relikvii imperatritsy: miniatiury iz "Portretnoi" Marii Fedorovny v Zimnem dvortse (Family relics of the empress: miniatures from Maria Fedorovna's portrait room in the Winter Palace) ; : " "
St. Petersburg: Pavlovsk, 2016. Sewn pb. These portrait miniatures exhibited at Pavlovsk Museum-Preserve were commissioned or collected by the empress Maria Fedorovna, wife of Paul I, in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century for her own portrait room. They are valuable visual documents of the empress's court, family and friends, and they are good example of miniatures, which were then in their heyday by artists from Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy and Russia. A substantive introduction to the catalogue points out the significance of the works for what they tell us about the Romanovs and their relatives, the role of the portrait miniature as a cherished visual chronicle of family history, the iconographic value of paintings that reveal taste, costume and setting. 135 p., approx. 100 color illus., Rus. with artists' names in ENGLISH.
