The collection catalogue publishes in full works dating from 1572 to 1902, which comprise many varied objects such as services, cups, tankards, mirror frames, samovars, coffee sets, toiletry, pitchers, urns, trays, and a throne. Most entries have multiple illustrations showing works from different views, hallmarks, and examples of restoration work. They come mainly from collections built by the imperial family especially Catherine I, Catherine the Great, and Nicholas I, and from private collections nationalized after the revolution. The introduction traces the history of the collection, informs us about major silversmiths, and surveys the overall quality of the works. Bibliography, five appendixes, and two indexes make up the scholarly apparatus.
