This catalogue of an exhibition at Pavlovsk Museum-Palace is the first publication of a collection of prints (mainly engravings) done primarily by English artists and collected by Maria Fedorovna, wife of Emperor Paul, in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. Many depict trades and crafts such as textiles for which the English were the avant-garde of technology and quality. Portraits of the Romanovs and English aristocrats are expressive works of art and sources on sitters. Many works reflect the eighteenth-century taste for mythological subjects and ancient history.
