Moscow: Institut russkogo realisticheskogo iskusstva, 2015. The authors point out the irony of the Stalinist years - the Soviet regime had an energetic determined program to evacuate artists and art schools and enable them to work during the war, but after the war many of these same artists were suppressed. Chapters focus on individual genres and regions where wartime art centers arose such as Central Asia and Bashkiria. Alexander Labas, Iurii Pimenov, Sergei Gerasimov, Robert Falk, Igor Grabar, Pavel Ben'kov, Vladimir Favorskii, and Sergei Eizenshtein are among the artists whose works are published in the catalogue.
