Aleksandr Tyshler. Zhivopis’, grafika, skul’ptura iz sobraniia Gosudarstvennogo muzeia izobrazitel’nykh iskusstv imeni A.S. Pushkina (Aleksandr Tyshler: painting, graphic art, sculpture from the collection of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts)
Moscow: Kuchkovo pole, 2018. Sewn pb. Trained in the 1920s during the heyday of the avant-garde, Tyshler could work in a variety of experimental styles. In the Stalinist years he turned to graphic and theater art as a safer sphere to work in than painting for exhibition, but in the thaw of the 1960s he returned to easel painting and became for the younger artists of the period a bridge to the avant-garde. In his works of the 1930s and 40s he displays deftly his avant-garde roots, often composing his paintings and drawings like an architectural design. 222p., approx. 300 color and b/w illus. , Rus.
