Works by such artists as E. P. Chemesev, I. A. Bersenev, and G. I. Skorodumov show the early successes in the eighteenth century. O. A. Kiprenskii and N. I. Utkin exhibit the art of the early and mid nineteenth century, and such famous painters as I. E. Repin, N. N. Ge, V. D. Polenov, and V. A. Serov demonstrate the level of attainment in the late nineteenth century.
