Dar Olega Iakhonta (Oleg Iakhont’s gift)

Moscow: Tret'iakovskaia galereia, 2019. Sewn pb. This is an example of a relatively new kind of catalogue for Russian museums: it honors a donor and patron publishing works that he or she has donated to the museum. Oleg Iakhont’s sculpture collection has many of the strongest artists working in twentieth-century Russia and the Soviet Union: Boris Korolev, Ilya Mashkov, Boris Ternovets, Akop Giurdzhan, Marina Ryndziunskaia, whose works date to the 1920s and 1930s. Unique in the history of Russian sculpture is Korolev’s cubist work. The quality of the works and the way they express the time (e.g., Korolev’s monumental work depicting Karl Marx) give the catalogue a double interest. The second half of the catalogue publishes drawings and works of sculpture from the 1970s to the present by Oleg Iakhont. 159 p., approx. 80 color illus., Rus. with detailed list of illustrations in ENGLISH.
