Karl Faberzhe i epokha russkogo renessansa (Carl Fabergé and the Russian Renaissance)

Moscow: Gos Istoricheskii muzei (GIM), 2019. Sewn cl. The first section concentrates on the elevation of every day objects — a cigar case, an envelope opener, a clock, a picture frame, a small box, a cigarette holder, a vase, a pitcher, an ash tray, a paper weight, a shot glass (charka) — to the level of art. It also publishes conventional works of jewelry such as broaches and bracelets by the major design and jewelry firms of the second half of the nineteenth century and early twentieth centuries: Fabergé, Ovchinnikov, Khlebnikov and lesser known ones: Sazikov, Bolin, Grachevy, Mishukov. The second chapter publishes works incorporating silver and gems commissioned by the church: chalices, reliquaries, censers, miters, crucifixes and icon frames. The third chapter unfolds a unique vein of Russian applied arts: works commissioned by army officers and military units as commemorative and trophy works such as fine silver cups and goblets, sculpted images of military life. An appendix on jewelry and metalworking firms workshops, and factories. 423 p., approx. 300 color illus., Rus. Item #3615
