Like most provincial museums Uglich Historical, Architectural, and Art Museum reflects the art of the region where it is located: the provenance of most works shows they come from monasteries, churches, and estates of the nobility in or near Uglich, some of whose collections were donated, but most were nationalized after the 1917 revolution. The museum is especially rich in church metalwork: chalices, reliquaries, crosses, and ornate bible covers adorned with metal reliefs and enamel paintings.
