? , S. I Verkhov, 2019. Sewn cl. This catalogue of the Novgorod State Museum-Preserve surveys the art originating in the Novgorod region from the medieval period to the early twentieth century.  Four chapters: cover icon painting, wood carving, embroidery, and applied arts. Especially strong is the chapter on icons, which makes up about two thirds of the book and has representative works from all periods in the history of the Russian Orthodox icon from the eleventh to the nineteenth centuries with an emphasis on the Novgorod school. The chapter on embroidered textiles publishes about fifteen works some anthologized in previous catalogues, others rarely seen. Church vessels, crucifixes, bible covers, censers, and reliquaries predominate in the chapter on applied and decorative arts and demonstrate most techniques used in European metalwork from the thirteenth to the seventeenth centuries. 99 p., 25 cm, approx. 100 color illus., Rus.
