Karl Rossi: Portret na fone Pavlovska (Pavlovsk in the work and life of Karl Rossi) ; .

St. Petersburg: Pavlovsk, 2019. Sewn pb. This catalogue of an exhibition at Pavlosk covers a relatively obscure aspect of the great architect's career. Famed for his works that shaped central St. Petersburg into one of the most beautiful capitals of Europe, such as the Michael Palace, the General Staff Building on Palace Square, the Alexander Theater and Yelagin Palace, he also designed elegant buildings on a more modest scale for the park at Pavlovsk such as gateways, pavilions, and promenades. He designed anew interiors and new wings of the palace, including a library, and drew plans and drawings for houses for the non-gentry or serving class (obyvatel'skie doma). Published here are rarely seen drawings, prints, and plans from the collection at Pavlovsk by Rossi himself and a slue of other artists who painted and drew at Pavlovsk. 167 p., approx. 100 color illus., Rus.
