St. Petersburg: Herm, 2022. Saddle-stitched. This catalogue of a Hermitage exhibition displays three paintings that have recently been through conservation. The works exhibited and published are the Trinity and Virgin with Child near the Fireplace, a diptych by Robert Campin; Agony in the Garden by Pieter Coecke van Aeist; and Descent from the Cross (Deposition), a copy after the original by Roger van der Weyden. These works were all parts of hinged altar panels, and the author traces as closely as possible their provenance. Also described is the process of conservation the paintings have gone through.
