Sagan uri Z uderidan (Sak art velo) : elitaruli samarxebi Kavkasiis Iberiidan romaul xanaši (ax.c. 200-250) / The Treasures of Zghuderi: Elite Burials of Caucasian Iberia in the Roman Period c. A.D. 200–250
Tbilisi: Sak art velos erovnuli muzeumi / Georgian National Museum, 2009. This catalogue of the Georgian National Museums publishes finds discovered when three tombs were excavated in Zghuderi located in an area once known as Caucasian Iberia and flourishing thanks to relations with the Romans during the first two and half centuries A.D. The authors attribute the richness of the art works and the items of material culture to the hybrid character of their origin — Zghuderi was at the outskirts of the Roman Empire inhabited by an ancient Georgian pre-Christian people: some items such as coins originated in Rome, others such as the bronze incense burner in the form of a griffin have a local origin. Among the works published are applied arts like lamps, silver plates, incense burners, and pitchers; decorative art used as jewelry — rings, bracelets, earrings, buckles. Materials used to make the works are iron, bronze, silver, and gold. Several vessels and fragments of glass were also found. 99 pages, 30 cm, approx. 100 color illustrations, Georgian and ENGLISH.
