The printer and woodcutter Vasily Koren using prototypes in Catholic and Protestant printed bibles and also immersed in the Slavonic icon and miniature tradition. The result was that the first illustrated Bible (published here is the last book of the Bible) established a new genre of book art, mixing Western European and Eastern Orthodox styles of biblical illustration. The book begins with a facsimile of the Apocalypse.
