Overnight the local art school, Ekaterinburg School of Art and Industry, was renamed Free State Artistic Studios, and the professors who were established artists who had been recognized in Western European exhibitions (e.g., Stepan Er'zia, Leonard Turzhanskii, and Alexander Paramonov) were at variance with artists propounding revolutionary art like Anna Boeva, Petr Sokolov and Alexander Labas.
