Moscow: Tret'iakovskaia galereia, 2015. sewn pb. Iakulov was a major figure in the artistic and theatrical world of Moscow, Paris and Yerevan during the creative explosion of the early twentieth century. He conceived of an original approach to painting (multicolored suns, the simultaneity of movement), and as a designer he received the highest prize at the French international exposition of 1925. For the theater his set and costume drawings were used in Diagiliev's production of Prokofiev's ballet "Le Pas d'Acier" and many musical and dramatic productions of the Moscow Chamber Theater during the 1920s. In his correspondence with Sonia Delauney he developed new theories that helped shape avant-garde art. For this Tretyakov Gallery exhibition works come from private collections and from museums in Russia and Armenia; some are published for the first time. 317 p., 28 cm, approx. 300 color illus., Rus. with summary and catalogue in ENGLISH.
